Fanfic

If there's one thing I enjoy doing, apart from ogling/mocking Allen, it's writing Escaflowne fanfic. As one of my favourite characters, he tends to crop up a lot in my tales, and I thought this would be a good place to offer you a read of some of these stories.

Please note that all my stories are written for people (like me) who have seen the whole TV series and want more. Unavoidably, they all contain spoilers.

Some of these stories are hosted on www.fanfiction.net, a site which I think is an absolute must for anyone who enjoys reading or writing fanfic.

In Disgrace With Fortune - I'm going to be upfront with you. This story is a big, fat yaoi lemon - in other words, it *does* get sexually explicit and *does* depict male homosexuality. So if you are not an adult, or if reading about that type of thing would offend you, just don't click the link. By clicking to read the story, you affirm that you're an adult and you take full responsibility for your viewing of the material. 'kay? Good boy/girl.

This is an odd little story; it started as a sort of by-blow because I was already writing Love With Its Back Turned, a Van/Dilandau yaoi lemon (same conditions apply), which is rawther dark and twisty and odd. But it got me thinking about other potential unconventional couplings in Escaflowne, and I wanted to write something that was a bit more of a tender love-story, and who did I think would have that kind of sweet relationship? Allen and Gaddes. (You may have observed a tendency on my part to change how I spell Sergeant Sidekick's name, and even to change my mind about whether Gaddes/Gadeth is his first or last name. Don't think too hard about it; it's just a whim.) I like to set myself a challenge in each fanfic; in LWIBT it was to come up with a reasonably plausible and interesting scenario in which Van would be the aggressive/dominant one rather than Dilandau; here it was to make Allen convincingly gay, or at least bisexual, without throwing his character as established in the series out the window, and while trying to explore some of the mysteries I see in him. I think I succeeded; even if I didn't, it's been lovely fun to write.

This story is affectionately dedicated to Lizz, its Muse.

Scars On the Heart - my first Escaflowne fanfic, and the one on which my reputation seems largely to be built. (Well, I do peddle it around everywhere.) Allen is more of a secondary character in this continuation of the series, which takes his sister Serena as its heroine, but he's far from unimportant. I took a rather unsympathetic view of him in this piece, which I think led some people to think I didn't like him. It was just that I needed someone to play the heavy...

This story is affectionately dedicated to Kevin, who is to it as Lizz is to IDWF, except I'm not sure you can call boys Muses.

Burning Down - Allen really has quite a small part in this relatively short romance, an alternative to the Scars continuation which follows Van and Celena. But hell, he's in there, bits of it are even told from his point of view, so I'll include it. I'm not really very kind to him here either. But you know I can't help making fun of him.
